Anthrax’s debut album is sort of a mixed affair. While the power is there, the consistency definitely is not. Songs such as “Deathrider” and “Metal Thrashing Mad” are still played by the band to this day, and rightfully so. But not all the tracks have stood the test of time. Songs such as “Soldiers of Metal”, while a nostalgic look back into the early 80’s thrash scene, offer little more than a short lived smile when listened to in the late 2000’s. Not a bad debut, but not a classic like their fellow thrashers Metallica or Slayer produced.
